In addition to serving as President of the Municipal Clerks Assn. of the State of New Jersey , Millie served as President of the Passaic County Clerks Assn., the Bloomingdale Golden Age Club and Butler Tri-Boro Rotary, where she was awarded the Rotary's prestigious Paul Harris Fellow award. Upon serving as Borough Clerk twenty-five years and becoming State President, two Congressional tributes were placed in the records of the 102nd Congress, by Congresswoman Marge Roukema and Congressman Robert Roe. The Passaic County Bd. of Chosen Freeholders named a Mildred C. Bird day, in recognition of her work for the citizens of the County.

Millie served as a United Way Chairperson, and was a member of the Bloomingdale United Methodist since 1958, where she was Secretary to the Official Board in the early years, and for a number of years served as Treasurer of the Esther Circle . Millie was a member of the Bloomingdale Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Bloomingdale Golden Age Club, the Wanaque Seniors, and held Life Memberships in the State Municipal Clerks Assn., Bloomingdale VFW memorial Post 9458 Ladies auk., American Legion Ladies Aux., VFW National Home for Children and the
